We are only a few weeks away from opening day. Time to gear up the fly boxes, replace the leaders, grease the reels and dream of what this season will bring. Fall and winter storms combined with the spring thaw change the small brooks I fish. I love this part of small water fishing because it provides constant challenges. Water that held fish last year can be forever changed with a flood. The fish always manage to find safe places to hold up until better conditions return. After a long winter of tying flies I am ready to see what mother nature has in store for me and welcome the challenge of rediscovering my favorite trout waters.
